Common questions

Q: Does acupuncture hurt?

A:  One of the first things people ask is “Does it hurt?”  The gauge of an acupuncture needle is about the size of a few human hairs. Sometimes people report feeling a small ‘tap’ or bit of pressure upon insertion.

Q: How does it work?

A: The needles stimulate the movement of blood and energy in bodies. Acupuncture needles help to release endorphins in to our system, which help to ease pain and relax the mind.

Q: What can I expect from an acupuncture treatment?

A: I begin by talking with you and getting to know you – your concerns and your hoped for outcomes. I gather as much health and medical history as possible and learn about your current concerns and lifestyle.  I take your pulses and look at your tongue.  After gathering that information, I design an individualized acupuncture session, which lasts for about 60 minutes.

During your treatment, I insert fine needles in to points along pathways or channels that connect to specific internal organs.  The needles stimulate blood and energy to circulate more freely bringing nourishment to our cells, tissues, muscles and organs while creating a sense of relaxation.

When you leave we discuss ways you can carry your treatment with you following your appointment.

Q: How often do I need to come for treatment?

A: I recommend that my clients come for at least three sessions at which point we re-evaluate.  The best results are seen with some consistency of treatment. When you begin to feel better and see improvement, then we reduce the frequency.

Q: What should I wear the the appointment?

A: Please wear or bring loose fitting, comfortable pants/shorts and a tank top/T-shirt so that we can easily access specific parts of the body.

Q: I have another question?

A: I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have. Just send a note through my contact page.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Greenstein Acupuncture and Wellness.
